Courage in the Face of Fear

Fear is a universal part of life. For dads, it often takes the shape of financial worries, fear of failing our families, or fear about the world our kids are growing up in. But courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s the decision to trust God and keep moving forward in spite of it.
Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” This wasn’t advice — it was a command from God Himself.
Our kids learn courage by watching us face challenges with faith. When they see us pray in tough times, take responsibility, and lean on God instead of caving to fear, they inherit a blueprint for their own lives. Courage is contagious.
As dads, we’ll never remove fear from our kids’ lives. But we can teach them how to respond to it — with faith, not paralysis.
Dad takeaway: Don’t hide from fear. Show your kids how to face it with faith.
