A Gentle Answer

1 min read

Proverbs 15:1

Solomon says a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tone of your response often determines whether a conflict escalates or de-escalates.

Choose your tone deliberately.

The same words said differently can produce completely different outcomes.

Respond gently even when provoked.

Gentleness under pressure is harder — and more effective — than gentleness in ease.

Recognize harsh words as fuel.

Harshness rarely calms a situation. It usually stokes it.

De-escalate on purpose.

Sometimes your goal in a conversation should be turning away wrath, not winning the point.

Practice this at home first.

Family conflicts are a good proving ground for this proverb.

Dad Takeaway: Your tone can pour gas on a fire or put it out. Choose gentle.
