Don't Waste the Trial

James 1:2-4

James tells believers to consider trials pure joy, because testing produces perseverance — and perseverance, if you let it finish its work, produces maturity. Trials aren't wasted if you respond right.

Expect trials, don't be shocked by them.

Difficulty isn't a sign something's gone wrong. It's part of the process.

Look for what the trial is producing.

Ask what's being built in you, not just when it will end.

Let perseverance finish its work.

Cutting a trial short often cuts short what it was meant to build.

Resist the shortcut.

The fastest way through often isn't the way that actually matures you.

Come out more complete.

The goal isn't just surviving the trial — it's growing through it.

Dad Takeaway: Don't just get through the trial. Let it get through to you.
