Finish the Race

Hebrews 12:1-2

The writer of Hebrews pictures the Christian life as a race, run with endurance, with our eyes fixed on Jesus. Starting well matters. Finishing well matters more.

Lay aside what's weighing you down.

Not everything you're carrying needs to come with you.

Run your own race.

Comparing your pace to someone else's will only slow you down.

Fix your eyes on Jesus.

He's both the reason you're running and the example for how to run.

Expect a long course.

This isn't a sprint. Pace yourself for the distance.

Keep your legs moving.

Some days it won't feel fast or impressive. Keep going anyway.

Dad Takeaway: Nobody remembers how fast you started. They remember whether you finished.
