Anger Management, Dad Edition

Every dad gets angry. The problem isn’t anger itself — it’s what we do with it. Ephesians 4:26 says, “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.”

Anger can reveal passion, injustice, or even love — but when it turns into control or resentment, it poisons relationships.

When frustration hits, pause. Pray before you react. Step away if you need to. Ask, “What’s really bothering me — them, or something deeper?” Often our kids or spouse catch the overflow of stress we never dealt with elsewhere.

Owning our anger teaches our children self-control. Exploding teaches fear. Apologizing after you lose it teaches humility.

Don’t aim to never feel anger — aim to handle it like Christ: strong, but under control.

Dad takeaway: Anger isn’t sin — but unchecked anger is. Lead with patience, not pride.
