Training the Heart, Not Just the Behavior

Scripture: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

Behavior is easy to correct. The heart takes time.

As dads, we can control behavior with rules, consequences, and authority — but if we never address the heart, transformation never happens. God is always after the heart first.

When a child disobeys, pause and ask why.

Fear? Insecurity?

Attention?

Teaching heart awareness builds emotional intelligence and spiritual maturity.

Jesus didn’t just modify behavior — He transformed hearts.

That’s our calling too.

Dad Takeaway: Discipline that reaches the heart produces lasting change.
